South Africa:

Semi Soet, a new music venue in Centurion, South Africa, recently turned to DWR for assistance with a new audio and lighting system. This saw Quest loudspeakers, a DiGiCo console and lighting fixtures from Robe integrated into the venue.

When it came to the audio, ‘we had to install a system that would offer quality, and it certainly helped that Quest comes at a reasonable price’, noted DWR’s Jaco Beukes, recommending four Quest HPI110 Compact High-definition loudspeakers and two Quest HPI18BP Bandpass 18-inch subwoofers for the main system.

Additionally, the audio installation also included two Quest QM450A Lightweight Active 12-inch cabinets for monitors. The centre fill and out fills comprise of a pair of Quest HPI111 Compact Hight-definition speakers, while to cater for the audio upstairs, three HP15 5-inch High Output loudspeakers were chosen as their small size made the cabinets unobtrusive without compromising on SPL or tone. DiGiCo’s S21 console was selected for mixing together with a D-Rack that provides 32 microphone inputs and 16 outputs for the PA and additional monitor sends.

DWR’s Schalk Botha headed the stage and lighting side of the project. Besides the installation of two 4m lighting bars, two Robin Spikies were chosen for fast LED washbeams and two Robin LEDBeam150s for sweeping beams and wide, far-reaching washes. A Showline SL Nitro 510 creates LED strobes, while the rig also includes Longman F4Ups, F8Ups and FacePar 900A LED flat par lights.

‘This was a really great project to work on,’ concluded Mr Beukes. ‘We were very pleased with the end result and would like to thank the Semi Soet team for allowing us this opportunity.’
