Albeta goes to the theatre
The Graha Bhakti Budaya Theatre located in Taman Ismail Marzuki, an arts, cultural and science centre in Jakarta, has had an FOH speaker and monitor system installed by distributor, Albeta. The new audio setup uses Electro-Voice X2 XLine Advance line arrays and X12-128 subwoofers deployed in a cardioid configuration.
The 12-inch two-way X2 element was chosen as the quality of the sound was considered a vast improvement from the previous system. The installation was completed using Electro-Voice’s PREVIEW, with the room size and audience area entered into the software so that each line array speaker was installed at the correct angle.
No hanging subwoofers were factored into the design as, at the time of the project, the X2 series did not possess any flyable models. Instead, Albeta relied upon ground-stacked X12-128 subs. For the balcony area, the subwoofer response is, however, less evenly covered in the lower viewing area. The company is now considering adding a hanging subwoofer in the near future to compensate. Albeta also supplied a Yamaha SL5 console for mixing.
The day after the installation was completed, the theatre was used for a musical theatre show, and both the user and owner were said to be very satisfied with the audio quality of the new Electro-Voice solution.
