Bridge Technologies’ measurement and monitoring integrates into Densitron’s IDS

A new long-term parentship announced between Densitron and Bridge Technologies will lead to the offering of new solutions for broadcast customers combining the functionality of Densitron’s IDS (Intelligent Display System) platform with Bridge Technologies’ software and hardware systems for broadcast measurement and monitoring.

Reuben Such, global business director of Densitron IDS, reveals that the first conversations about a possible collaboration with Bridge Technologies took place back at IBC 2019: “We realised that the integration of our IDS platform with their acclaimed VB440 IP probe would provide a great combined solution for the monitoring and performance analysis of ST2110 and ST2022-6 video and audio streams. For instance, this allows users to access sub-2 frame previews of these streams as well as vector scope images and other rendered waveforms.”

Streaming information and granular waveforms can then be distributed via HTML5 or the WebAssembly JavaScript platform. It is also possible to embed this information into IDS and have the system “act as a control wrapper around the VB440,” explained Such. “So, as well as providing a monitoring solution for the VB440, users are able to tap into the full toolkit of IDS as well.”

A proof-of-concept based around the integration is reportedly nearing completion and will constitute the initial focus of the partnership. “Lockdown has given us the chance to talk at length and these discussions have highlighted some other areas in which we could work together,” furthered Such, who expects details of the first specific VB440/IDS deployments to be revealed within the next few months.

Simen K Frostad, chairman of Bridge Technologies, welcomed the collaboration, commenting: “The VB440 has already proven itself to be an indispensable tool in obtaining real-time IP packet behavioural analytics when transporting uncompressed ST2110 and ST2022-6 video and audio. The IP probe’s integration with Densitron’s IDS platform means customers can benefit from a powerful and responsive combined solution for monitoring and analysis, as well as the chance to take advantage of IDS’ extensive additional functionality.”
