South Africa:

Ultra Events Technical Solutions handled the technical setup at the Grand Parade for the 48th edition of the Cape Town Cycle Tour. Set amongst the picturesque view of Table Mountain, the event kicked off with approximately 30,000 riders taking part in either the 109km or 42km race.

The Cape Town Cycle Tour was first launched in 1978 under the name Cape Argus Cycle Tour. What started as a small, purpose-driven ride made up of around 500 riders to highlight the need for safer cycling routes in Cape Town has grown into a globally recognised mass-participation cycling event.

Under the direction of Playground SA, the Ultra Events crew illuminated the Cape Town City Hall at the start line with 16 ADJ Hydro Profile fixtures. The facade of the building was washed with hues of purple and yellow light, transforming it into a beaming landmark amidst the evening sky.

Part of ADJ’s Hydro Series, the Hydro Profile has been engineered for real-world conditions and features a 660W LED engine, over 25,000 lumens and an IP65 rating. With the sun beaming down on the city, the weather conditions didn’t affect the event. However, the crew noted that they had adequately prepared for adverse conditions, including choosing the weather-resistant Hydro Profile units.

The Ultra crew have been involved with the Cape Town Cycle Tour for several years and said that it remains a consistent highlight on their events calendar.
