Rise launches Rise Upskill global training initiative

The industry advocacy group Rise has opened applications for a new global training initiative – Rise Upskill – aimed at increasing access to cloud and artificial intelligence skills for women working in broadcast and media technology. Delivered by Rise and supported by Amazon Web Services, the programme is designed for members of the Rise community and will run fully online from 1 June to 1 September 2026.

The initiative offers two certification pathways: AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner and AWS Certified AI Practitioner. Both are entry-level qualifications delivered via AWS Skill Builder and are intended to provide foundational knowledge of cloud computing or artificial intelligence concepts without requiring prior technical experience.

According to Rise, the programme was developed in response to community demand for structured, career-focused training and certification opportunities. It is open globally and free to participants within the Rise network.

The Cloud Practitioner pathway covers basic cloud computing concepts, AWS services, security and compliance, and pricing models. The AI Practitioner pathway focuses on artificial intelligence, machine learning and generative AI fundamentals, with an emphasis on business and operational applications. The programme will be delivered through self-paced online learning, supported by optional study drop-in sessions and cohort-based guidance.

Applications are now open, with a deadline of 25 May 2026, and results due to be announced on 10 September this year. An introductory session for the selected cohort is scheduled for 4 June 2026.

RiseUpSkill said it will select 50 participants for the inaugural intake, with successful applicants expected to complete coursework and sit their chosen certification exam within the programme period.
