ETC powers BTS’s comeback show in Seoul
Celebrated K-pop band BTS recently took the stage in Seoul for its first show in four years, backed by a lighting rig powered by ETC’s Hog family.
Dubbed as one of the biggest live events and concert productions of the year, The Comeback:AIRRANG was held in Seoul's historic Gwanghwamun Square and, notably, was the first standalone concert ever staged there. With the show being attended by an estimated 100,000 fans, as well as broadcast worldwide by Netflix, it was imperative that every cue and look was kept in-sync.
The concert featured a lighting design by Al Gurdon and Harry Forster who worked alongside lighting director Ross Williams, while Alex Mildenhall, Alex Silvester and Alex Passmore handled programming. Their design leveraged the ETC Tour Hog and Hog OS to run over 230 fixtures that illuminated the band and dancers throughout the show.
“Tour Hog truly played an intrinsic role in enhancing the concert's lighting experience,” said Williams. “This was my second time using Tour Hog, as I had previously worked only with the legacy Hog 4 hardware. Thankfully, the transition felt incredibly smooth, and having access to 64 universes straight from the console was a game changer. We used most of that capability during the concert, which was a wonderful experience.”
