Lumens automates multi-camera voice tracking
Lumens Digital Optics has unveiled its CamConnect Pro (AI-Box1 CamConnect Processor) said to bring “a wealth of advanced tools” including automated camera-tracking, voice tracking and dynamic input switching. It also offers camera mixing for VC and UC applications which provides television-style production levels. The intelligent hardware element of the CamConnect Pro is as small as a mini converter but reportedly has the power and flexibility to support up to four cameras, multiple microphones and collaboration tools such as Barco ClickShare CX series. It is optimised to partner with microphone arrays from Nureva, Sennheiser, Shure and Yamaha. The processor can also place live speakers in a side-by-side or 2x2 multiview configuration on screen, allowing viewers and remote participants to engage with discussions and debates without the constant moving back and forth of a camera. The solution supports input from a single voice-tracking microphone or an entire array of installed mics, making it suitable for use in huddle rooms and lecture theatres.
The manufacturer has also launched its ultra-wide VC-TR60 4K AI auto-tracking camera with a new generation, high-sensitivity sensor. The lens provides an 81° maximum horizontal viewing angle, making it suitable for use in huddle spaces, classrooms, studios and indoor sports arenas where a wide-angle lens is crucial. Equipped with SDI, HDMI, IP and USB outputs and supporting power over Ethernet, the VC-TR60 is ready to integrate with video production workflows, video conferencing installations and streaming solutions. The camera’s PTZ mechanism uses standard VISCA control and supports up to 255 preset positions. It also includes Lumens’ latest AI technology which enables autonomous intelligent tracking.
Finally, Lumens’ CamConnect Lite software now pairs with Yamaha’s RM-CG Ceiling Array Microphone to track the active speaker visually and acoustically with the in-room PTZ camera. This is based on the accurate, real-time directional data supplied by the RM-CG’s microphone array. With the camera focusing on the current audio source, remote guests can better interact and immerse with the meeting and students are hopefully more engaged in learning.
