Martin Professional puts a spotlight on Singapore’s National Day Parade
Singapore's 59th National Day Parade (NDP) featured a spectacular lighting display at the Padang which incorporated 411 lighting fixtures from Martin Professional. Watched by a crowd of over 27,000, the NDP featured immersive performances and pyrotechnic displays that paid tribute to the country.
294 MAC Ultra Performance and 117 MAC Viper Performance fixtures were positioned strategically above the National Gallery Singapore, lighting the parade route. Four 6 x 6 grid towers featuring MAC Ultras were also deployed to further enhance the large performance stage’s presence. An additional 30 MAC Ultra Performance fixtures were also incorporated as unmanned follow spots, controlled remotely by a 10 Macula controller, to highlight specific moments of the performance that had an emotional draw.
“The feedback on this year’s NDP lighting design has been overwhelmingly positive with the team expressing a significant improvement in the ‘wow factor’ compared to the previous year,” commented lighting designer Gabriel Chan who was one of the key creators behind this year’s parade.
Gabriel noted the MAC Ultra as the “go-to spotlight”, citing its brightness and how it excelled in the pre-parade and dynamic defense segments. “In follow spot mode, it flawlessly highlighted both local and main performers while its brightness complemented the multimedia elements perfectly,” he explained. “Together with its long throw, this spotlight was ideal for the parade and ceremony segments.”
Amar Subash, VP and GM, Harman Professional Solutions, APAC, remarked: “We are honoured that Martin Professional lights were selected as key performers in Singapore’s 59th National Day celebrations to be part of the mesmerising light display at the beloved parade. We are pleased to observe how Singapore has kept pace with global entertainment standards and embraced cutting-edge audiovisual technology often pioneered by world-renowned artists. This year's NDP exemplified this trend with the extensive use of Martin Professional lighting fixtures.”
