Moodsonic sets the ambience at CBRE’s new Singapore offices
Global real-estate services and investment firm Coldwell Banker Richard Ellis (CBRE) has recently relocated to new offices in Singapore where Simon Long, senior director of client technology at CBRE, has led a project to integrate Moodsonic’s soundscaping technology to create a workplace where wellbeing and focus take precedence.
Long’s vision was achieved with the help of Valeo Technology, a provider of wellbeing-led technologies, which worked closely on the design and delivery of the Moodsonic solution with local installation partner ESCO and consultant, Hewshott. An audio system using 120 Bluesound Professional BCS300 speakers, mostly in pendant configuration, was designed and implemented to support 14 distinct zones including front-of-house and back-of-house areas, focus rooms, wellness spaces, quiet zones, bathrooms and café areas to create a cohesive sound environment.
“From the moment employees step out of the lifts, soundscaping is immediately present, setting the tone for the workplace experience,” said Valeo Technology director Marcus Rose. The space is intentionally immersive, guiding movement and behaviour through sound as much as through architecture and visual design. The office has been deliberately split into distinct sections to support different ways of working, communicating and interacting, encouraging choice and autonomy rather than sitting in one place. Should the office layout evolve over time, zones can be easily reconfigured by decoupling and regrouping speakers through Bluesound’s BluOS software without the need for invasive work to reroute cabling. While Moodsonic soundscaping operates as the default, the system also offers flexibility, for example, allowing teams to change the music by temporarily switching to their preferred streaming service via the BluOS app and reverting to Moodsonic when required.
The technology can also be used to analyse multiple data sets including occupancy sensors, air quality, lighting levels and Moodsonic acoustic data, providing a real-time understanding of how the office is performing at any given moment. This data-led approach enables continuous optimisation of the workplace environment.
