It’s a kind of Blackmagic

Designed specifically for television, Blackmagic Ethernet Switch models are equipped with network connections are on the rear, for looming cables neatly. The latest Blackmagic Ethernet Switch 820 features front-to-back cooling, six fans for redundancy, dual redundant power supplies and simple router control. This quiet design is very important when users are working near equipment such as in broadcast trucks and mini racks.

Using QSFP sockets, the eight separate 100G Ethernet connections connect data ports on HyperDeck ISO Recorder 100G and Blackmagic Cloud Store Ultra but can also be used for SMPTE-2110 networks with ATEM Constellation IP switchers and HyperDeck ISO Recorder 100G. Ensuring low-latency switching over a SMPTE-2110 IP video network, the dedicated NMOS control Ethernet connection ensures NMOS management traffic is separated from video and audio data. Critical for syncing video, audio and data streams, two redundant PTP clock inputs maintain precise timing for all equipment connected to the switch.

Designed to record all cameras for live production, the HyperDeck ISO Recorder 100G records up to eight separate channels of ProRes HQ in Ultra HD SMPTE-2110 IP video onto high-speed network storage over 100G Ethernet. Featuring two dedicated 100G data ports for redundancy, recording to network disks onto the network storage servers commences once the desired folder is selected. With an ability to edit media while it’s being recorded, DaVinci Resolve allows multiple workstations to access the same storage. Simplifying live action sports replay, cameras can be displayed in a multiview viewer for live scrolling all the angles in real time. While playing to air, a new angle can be selected in DaVinci's multiview.

Featuring a machined metal search dial with increased mass and a soft rubber surface, the design combines broadcast deck controls with front-to-back cooling and full redundancy on all video and data connections. The LCD screen supports both light and dark modes, and the search dial features an active clutch like a traditional broadcast deck. SMPTE-2022-7 Seamless Protection Switching sends two identical copies of video and audio across both connections, and on the receive side it compares incoming RTP packets by sequence number before reconstructing a video frame from whichever packet of pixels arrives first.

Delivering 16 channels of 12G-SDI and SMPTE-2110 conversion via a single 100G Ethernet connection, the SD Expander 8x12G simultaneously converts bidirectionally at the same time. Capable of supporting eight bidirectional 12G-SDI connections, the converter features two separate 100G Ethernet connections allowing SMPTE-2022-7 redundancy. It converts eight independent channels of 12G-SDI to SMPTE-2110, while simultaneously converting a separate set of eight SMPTE-2110 channels back to 12G-SDI.
