Extending the frequency
The S 08 from RCF is a high-power subwoofer ideal for installations where a compact size and the impact of an 8-inch driver are required. With an extended frequency response below 40Hz, the unit is reportedly capable of providing output levels normally associated with considerably larger enclosures. It is suited to background music in applications such as clubs, bars and cafés, as well as theatres and AV presentations. The low-frequency transducer is an 8-inch woofer with
a 1.5-inch voice coil. It has a compact active and passive subwoofer design, said to result in a fast and controlled reproduction of the bass frequency range. It comes with 120W RMS power handling, 110dB max SPL and a 40–160Hz frequency range.
Meanwhile, the S 08-A is a self-powered amplifier featuring a 4-channel Class-D amplifier capable of powering the integrated 8-inch woofer, two satellites lines for both mono and stereo applications, and an additional passive S 08 subwoofer. Three line and two mic inputs can be mixed in an optimised way to balance each single level. Bluetooth connectivity allows audio streaming from any mobile device, while the speaker comes with traditional RCA, combo XLR and 3.5mm jack connectors. The model offers eight different equalisations, optimised for music and voice reproduction. Specific HIPASS filter values allow users to combine the system with a wide range of RCF speaker models. It has a 20Hz–20kHz frequency range.
