Charis Christian Center increases coverage with DAS Audio
Charis Christian Center has transformed its worship experience with the installation of a DAS Audio EVENT Series, selected to deliver greater coverage and consistency throughout its 1,500-seat sanctuary and improve both in-person and livestream audio quality.
Originally built as a warehouse, the auditorium presented several acoustic challenges, including excessive slapback echo, uneven sound coverage and significant stage bleed. To solve these issues, Charis Christian Center partnered with DAS Audio, Sound Productions and integrator Luxe AVL to design a system tailored specifically to the room’s unique architecture.
The setup includes a main L-R system of 16 EVENT-28A dual 8-inch line array speakers and eight EVENT-26A compact dual 6-inch line array speakers for out fill. Four EVENT-118A single 18-inch subwoofers have been flown in a centre end-fire configuration, while two EVENT-218A dual 18-inch subwoofers have been installed on the ground. System Processing consists of an INTEGRAL-M88 processor equipped with Dante, using DAS Audio’s ALMA Control software.
Using laser scanning technology, Luxe AVL created a precise virtual model of the space to optimise speaker placement and system performance. According to the integrator, the result has dramatically improved intelligibility, reduced stage volume and provided tighter pattern control and consistent coverage throughout the room.
“Our worship team is incredible, but the sound just wasn’t filling the room in a way that created the immersive experience we wanted,” said Caleb Kanneberg, production manager at Charis Christian Center. “Now you can walk anywhere in the space, and the sound is clear, controlled and impactful. It completely changed the room.”
In addition to improving the in-room experience, the installation also elevated the church’s livestream production. According to the Charis team, online viewers noticed an immediate improvement in audio quality during the very first service after the system went live.
The increased headroom and precision of the DAS system also helped solve long-standing challenges with choir microphones, pastor intelligibility and feedback management.
“Charis Christian Center is a great example of how thoughtful system design can completely transform a challenging space,” said Michael Palmer, vice president of sales for DAS Audio. “This installation was about creating a worship environment where every seat feels connected to the experience.”
Kanneberg also praised the collaboration between DAS Audio throughout the process, noting the team’s attention to detail and commitment to getting the system right. Now, the upgraded sanctuary supports Charis Christian Center’s goal of creating impactful worship experiences both in the room and online, giving the church a scalable, future-ready audio platform built to serve its growing community for years to come.
