PK Sound appoints Conrad Whelan as chairman
PK Sound has appointed Conrad Whelan as chairman of the board, strengthening its leadership team. Whelan has served on the PK Sound board since 2018 and will now take on a more active leadership role as the manufacturer looks to scale its robotic line array technology and global operations. The Canadian manufacturer is known for its robotic line array systems, which allow users to adjust vertical coverage patterns remotely through software control.
“The live sound industry is at an inflection point,” commented Whelan. “The venues, the touring companies, the rental houses are being asked to make decisions about technology that will define how their businesses operate for the next decades. My ambition is to make sure PK Sound gives them the clearest possible reason to move forward with confidence.”
Prior to joining PK Sound, Whelan was a founding engineer at Uber, where he developed the company’s original dispatch algorithm. His subsequent career has included work in decentralised computing and data infrastructure technologies.
“What PK Sound has built is genuinely rare,” he continued. “Patented robotic technology that gives engineers precise, real-time control over acoustic coverage is not an incremental improvement; it’s a different way of thinking about what a line array can do.”
PK Sound CEO Jeremy Bridge said the appointment reflects the company’s focus on long-term growth and technology development. “Conrad has always asked the questions that make us dig deeper,” said Bridge. “His instinct is to cut through to what actually matters, for the business and for the people we serve. That’s exactly the kind of leadership we need as we scale our patented technology in the market.”
