India:

Celestion appeared at the recent PALM Expo India show alongside new distributor, Wave Dynamics, debuting the new partnership to the local market.

“We are a legendary brand, and we’ve been at the PALM show right from the beginning,” said Celestion sales director Andy Farrow, highlighting the British company’s 102-year history, “but the market's changing. You've got to stay current and relevant, and we needed a new partner that was able to work with all the modern challenges that we're seeing here.”

Celestion has factories in the UK, China and Thailand. “We’ve found that, in this market, there's something for everybody,” Farrow continued. “If you've got the right product, it performs well and it's reliable, people are going to keep buying it, so we had to make our products more available across the board.”

Wave Dynamics will be targeting Indian manufacturers producing their own speaker systems. “We’re making Celestion available to anybody that's serious about audio who is manufacturing in India and wants to take their sound to the next level, as well as building a dealer network,” commented Zura Braganza from Wave Dynamics. “People are increasingly replacing speaker components in cabinets they want to upgrade because the market here is waking up to better quality and want to be able to buy a recognised brand.”

Farrow points to one of the best-selling Celestion products in India, the CF 840JD LF driver. “We've been selling it here very strongly for several years and, in general, customers will put this into their cabinets if their 18-inch woofers are failing and they're just running out of steam. They just keep going, they're reliable and they're really good for this market,” said Farrow, who is confident Wave Dynamics will increase Celestion’s brand recognition and reach across the subcontinent.
