Broadcast Solutions delivers UHD fleet to TRT
Broadcast Solutions is completing delivery of eight new outside broadcast vehicles to Turkish public broadcaster TRT, reportedly marking the largest single OB contract in the systems integrator’s history. The project comprises two large trailer-based units and six mid-sized rigid chassis trucks, all designed for Ultra HD production. The fleet was commissioned as part of TRT’s wider modernisation strategy ahead of a series of major international events, including European football competitions and the NATO summit scheduled to take place in Ankara later this year.
The two flagship trailer units are configured to support up to 23 UHD cameras, including slow-motion and ultra-slow-motion systems, while the six smaller vehicles can accommodate up to 12 UHD cameras each.
A key requirement of the project was support for TRT’s ongoing transition from SDI to IP-based production infrastructure. To provide operational flexibility, all eight vehicles were designed with hybrid architectures capable of supporting both 12G-SDI and IP workflows.
“We needed a technical partner with a real depth of knowledge and experience in systems integration and outside broadcast manufacture,” commented Alperen Aydin, CTO of TRT. “Broadcast Solutions had these skills, and they also demonstrated their understanding of the philosophy behind these projects.”
According to Broadcast Solutions COO Wladislaw Grabowski, TRT involved the company from the earliest planning stages to help optimise both technical design and operational workflows. “This was a very important project for all parties involved,” said Grabowski. “TRT wanted us involved from day one to ensure we delivered the most technically secure and operationally convenient production spaces and ensured we had the time to get everything right.”
The contract was signed in September 2024, with all eight vehicles scheduled for delivery within a two-year period. Broadcast Solutions stated that the first trailer unit entered service within eight months and is already being used for live sports, entertainment and event productions.
