NEXO brings soulful sound to Seoul Jazz Festival
A NEXO sound system powered performances from international stars and local Korean acts for the 18th edition of the Seoul Jazz Festival. Taking place in the South Korean capital’s Olympic Park last month, the event served as a celebration of jazz and contemporary music, featuring a diverse lineup of over 60 artists.
The 2026 edition was headlined by fourteen-time Grammy winner Herbie Hancock, seven-time Grammy-winner Jon Batiste and ten-time Grammy-nominated Janelle Monáe. The performances were staged in the 15,000 capacity KSPO Dome where NEXO’s rental partner Way Audio rigged L-R side-by-side hangs of 15 STM M46 Main and 15 STM B112 Bass line array elements, with STM S118 subs providing the LF extension and further hangs of STM M28 used as side fills.
In addition, the French manufacturer’s P+ Series point source speakers were deployed as onstage monitors, with GEO M12 stacks performing the role of stage fills. Meanwhile, the outdoor 88 Lake Waterfront Stage featured Way Audio’s new NEXO Alpha+ system in left and right stacks.
“Legendary Alpha power combined with the ability to control the HF directivity of the M210 main module made Alpha+ perfect for this application, providing excellent coverage of the tiered, amphitheatre-style seating,” commented Jordan Lee, chief system engineer at Way Audio. “And being a stacking system makes Alpha+ really quick and easy to rig.”
