Vitec targets IP efficiency with Diamond-IP OG
Vitec has introduced the Diamond-IP OG, an openGear-compatible encoder designed to support the transition from SDI to IP workflows while increasing channel density and reducing bandwidth requirements.
Built for broadcast, production and enterprise video environments, the encoder can transport multiple HD signals or a single 4K stream over IP. By leveraging HEVC (H.265) compression, Diamond-IP OG is reportedly capable of reducing bandwidth consumption by up to 50% compared with traditional approaches, helping organisations maximise existing network resources.
The platform combines high-density encoding with native SMPTE ST 2110 support, enabling broadcasters and media organisations to integrate IP-based workflows without expanding rack space or network infrastructure. The openGear form factor allows users to increase channel capacity within existing deployments, addressing common space and scalability constraints in production facilities and broadcast operations.
Diamond-IP OG has been developed for live and mission-critical applications where reliability and low latency are essential. Support for IP transport protocols is designed to improve resilience when delivering video across constrained or unmanaged networks, helping maintain reliable contribution feeds in demanding environments.
Vitec noted that, as broadcasters and enterprise users continue to increase channel counts and migrate towards IP production, solutions that improve efficiency while reducing infrastructure demands are becoming increasingly important. The manufacturer positions the Diamond-IP OG as a tool to help engineering teams scale IP video workflows while maintaining image quality, operational flexibility and network efficiency.
