Vizrt keys into AI production

Expanding its AI-driven production portfolio, Vizrt has launched AI Keyer – a software-based system designed to create virtual and augmented reality (AR) environments without the need for traditional green screen workflows.

The technology uses AI models trained on a wide range of real-world footage and lighting conditions to identify and separate foreground subjects from their surroundings. This enables presenters and talent to be placed within virtual environments while maintaining natural movement, whether productions take place indoors or outdoors.

By removing the requirement for green screens, dedicated studio spaces and complex chroma keying setups, AI Keyer aims to simplify the creation of virtual sets and AR-enhanced productions. The system can also be used to insert AR graphics and virtual elements into live environments, supporting a variety of broadcast, sports, corporate and live event applications.

Potential use cases include virtual backdrops for news and corporate presentations, remote participant integration for live events and town hall meetings, and the insertion of branded virtual graphics during sports interviews and coverage.
