Radio Tzafon upgrades with DHD
Radio Tzafon has completed an upgrade of its broadcast facilities in Galilee, Israel, deploying DHD audio mixing technology across its production studios and master control room. The station, which broadcasts two FM channels featuring news, interviews, music, sports and entertainment programming, worked with Jerusalem-based Broadcast Design on the systems design, supply, integration and configuration.
The project was delivered in two phases, with the first including the installation of a 16-fader DHD SX2 modular console in Studio 1 and a DHD TX2 touchscreen mixer in the master control room. Following the deployment, Radio Tzafon expanded the upgrade to a second studio, adding a 10-fader SX2 console and an additional TX2 producer’s panel.
"The project was completed in two phases which began when the Radio Tzafon team chose a 16-fader DHD SX2 modular console for Studio 1 plus a TX2 touchscreen mixer for the MCR,” said Micha Blum, CEO of Broadcast Design. “They were so pleased with the ease of operation, versatility, high sound quality and desktop space efficiency of the DHD equipment that they decided to update another studio with a 10-fader SX2 plus a TX2 producer's panel. Each phase included full Dante audio-over-IP. All four mixing panels connect to a DHD XC3 core processor.”
The installation incorporates Dante audio networking throughout and integrates with AVT telephone hybrid systems. The producer’s TX2 panels provide operational control, while the system also supports talkback between studios, shared codecs and other common resources, along with remote monitoring and control capabilities.
Radio Tzafon operates in cooperation with Radio 103FM, allowing offsite technical support through DHD’s Assist App and Views App.
At the core of the installation is a XC3 IP processing engine, which supports the station’s networked audio infrastructure and provides connectivity between the consoles, control surfaces and I/O devices.
