Greg Mackie and Peter Watts launch M&W Pro Audio
A new professional audio manufacturer has entered the market with the launch of M&W Pro Audio, a company founded by industry veterans Greg Mackie and British audio engineer Peter Watts. The brand made its industry debut at InfoComm 2026 in Las Vegas, where it unveiled its first products, the D24 and D32 digital mixing consoles.
Headquartered in Seattle, M&W Pro Audio brings together strategist and company founder Mackie’s long-standing experience in developing professional audio products with British audio engineer, programmer and company co-founder Watts' background in analogue and digital console design. Watts began his career at Trident Consoles in London and later became head of research and development at Trident Audio Developments, a position he held from 1976 to 1995.
According to the company, the launch follows five years of development work focused on creating a new generation of digital mixing systems built around advanced DSP processing, touchscreen operation and proprietary microphone preamp technology.
The company's first products, the D24 and D32, are aimed at live sound applications including houses of worship, theatres, concert touring, corporate AV and nightclub installations. Both mixers employ large-format touchscreens in place of many traditional hardware controls, providing direct access to channel processing, routing and system management functions.
M&W Pro Audio says the touchscreen-based architecture is intended to improve workflow, increase operational flexibility and provide greater visual feedback compared to conventional digital mixing consoles. The software-driven platform has also been designed to support ongoing feature development and updates throughout the life of the products.
The consoles incorporate Watts' new Lyric microphone preamp design, which uses a quad-matched, parallel input balanced input stage. They also feature touch-based glass faders designed to eliminate mechanical wear associated with traditional moving faders.
“I've never stopped gathering ideas about how to make live mixing easier,” said Mackie. “The D24 and D32 are the culmination of decades of sound experience and four solid years of translating my ideas into a more intuitive, easier workflow. My goal was to create a touch screen mixer 'done right'. We believe we have accomplished this, but it took years of design, review, redesign and final design. The electronic control surfaces found on the D24 and D32 gave us opportunities that are simply not possible with physical faders or designs which employ small display screens."
Watts added: “I am excited to rejoin Greg Mackie as his partner in this promising new venture. It has given me a chance to unveil a microphone preamp design that I feel is a step above any currently incorporated in other mixers. I also believe that our collaboration on the D24 and D32 GUI and workflow has set a new standard for ease of use that, I'm confident, will open numerous creative opportunities for our clientele.|
The D24 and D32 digital mixers are expected to become available in late 2026, marking the first commercial products from M&W Pro Audio as it enters the global professional audio market.
