Hear Technologies simplifies connection to SoundGrid
Described as an affordable way to connect Dante audio networks directly to Waves SoundGrid systems, Waves has announced the Hear Technologies Dante-WSG XS, a compact Dante-to-SoundGrid bridge that brings the technology to a smaller form factor and lower price point. Designed for live sound, broadcast and installed audio applications, the device supports 64 channels of bidirectional audio between Dante and SoundGrid at 44.1kHz and 48kHz sample rates, or 32 channels at 88.2kHz and 96kHz.
For Waves LV1 Classic users, the Dante-WSG XS provides a compact option for expanding into Dante-based workflows, while also offering Dante connectivity for wider SoundGrid deployments including LV1 and SuperRack systems. The half-rack unit is aimed at applications where space is limited, including flypacks, portable production systems, houses of worship, touring rigs and compact installations. Measuring 220mm x 42mm x 227mm (WxHxD), the Dante-WSG XS weighs 3lb and can be mounted on a rack shelf or installed using optional rack-mount accessories.
Control of Waves plugins directly from a Midas HD96 console is now possible following the addition of ProLink support to Waves SuperRack SoundGrid and SuperRack Performer. The integration establishes a direct connection between the HD96 and SuperRack, allowing engineers to manage selected plugin parameters using the console's Touch and Turn encoder rather than relying on an external keyboard and mouse.
Among the new capabilities is snapshot synchronisation, enabling console snapshots to automatically recall corresponding SuperRack snapshots. Session management is also integrated, allowing show files loaded on the HD96 to automatically load the associated SuperRack session. Additional workflow enhancements include automatic plugin rack focus when channels are soloed, helping engineers quickly access the relevant processing chain. Time-based Waves plugins, including delays and tremolos, can also synchronise automatically with the console's global tempo. According to Waves and Midas, the integration is intended to reduce the need to switch between control surfaces and screens during live productions, creating a more unified workflow between the console and SuperRack environment.
