Adelaide’s Crowne Plaza upgrades with JBL and Crown
Crowne Plaza Adelaide Mawson Lakes has deployed an integrated JBL Professional and Crown audio system throughout its conference, hospitality and public spaces, enabling the hotel to manage the majority of its AV requirements without dedicated on-site technicians.
Developed by The Pelligra Group in partnership with ONE7 and IHG Hotels & Resorts, the hotel is reported to be the first premium full service property in northern Adelaide. Located within the Mawson Lakes precinct, it features four conference and event spaces covering 442m², including the Shoalhaven Ballroom, accommodating up to 250 guests.
The venue wide AV system was designed and installed by Corporate Initiatives, with more than 80 JBL Professional loudspeakers and Crown amplifiers deployed across the reception, lobby, restaurant, bar, conference facilities, gym, atrium, balconies, lifts and public amenities.
“Music creates an emotional connection,” said Faisal Sayed, general manager of Corporate Initiatives. “It sets the tone, energy and mood in every space. It supports the brand experience, activates areas commercially and helps deliver seamless conferencing. A good sound system is fundamental.”
The installation comprises JBL Control 16 ceiling loudspeakers in reception, lobby and amenity areas, Control 18C/T models in the ballroom, gym and high traffic spaces. There are also Control 24CT loudspeakers in lifts, Control 65 pendant loudspeakers in the bar, restaurant and reception, SLP14 surface-mount loudspeakers in the atrium and balcony areas, and JBL 8128 in-ceiling loudspeakers in selected gym and reception spaces. The system is powered by Crown amplifiers, providing centralised control and zone management.
“We’re working closely with IHG on standardising audiovisual platforms across its hotels,” commented Gayan Dias, strategic relationships manager at Corporate Initiatives. “JBL offers the versatility we need, from indoor to outdoor applications, and when paired with Crown amplifiers, it provides the zoning sophistication and reliability hotels require.”
A key objective of the installation was to enable meeting and event spaces to operate independently, allowing guests to host presentations and functions using integrated microphones, displays and sound systems without requiring external AV suppliers.
“Most clients only need a microphone, a lectern and a screen,” said Amy Davies, director of marketing and sales at Crowne Plaza Adelaide Mawson Lakes. “What sets our spaces apart is that all the technology is already there. Guests can host professional events without bringing in external AV or additional equipment.”
According to Nick Screen, VP and GM, Harman Professional Solutions, APAC: “Hotels today need AV systems that are powerful and flexible, but also intuitive for non-technical staff. A unified ecosystem like JBL and Crown allows venues such as Crowne Plaza Adelaide Mawson Lakes to move seamlessly between conferencing, events and social settings while maintaining a consistent guest experience.”
