Atomos has released the Sumo PRO-19, a 19-inch 4K HDR monitor-recorder-switcher designed for on-set production. Combining HDR DCI-P3 monitoring, recording, camera control, switching and network connectivity in a single device, the Sumo PRO-19 supports EL Zone exposure monitoring. It records in Apple ProRes, ProRes RAW, Avid DNx and H.265 formats from SDI and HDMI sources, supporting up to 8Kp30 recording with 10-bit 4:2:2 capture. Connectivity includes two 12G-SDI inputs, two 3G-SDI inputs, a 12G-SDI output and HDMI I/O.
Media can be recorded internally to CFexpress cards or externally via USB-C storage. The unit also offers touchscreen camera control for supported devices, including start/stop, ISO, shutter, aperture, white balance and touch-to-focus functions. The device supports camera-to-cloud services including ATOMOSphere, Frame.io and Dropbox. Atomos's AirGlu technology provides RF and Bluetooth timecode synchronisation between cameras and production devices.
Recording up to four isolated camera feeds alongside a fifth programme output, the device supports quad-view monitoring for multi-camera productions. The system also supports NDI HX3 transmission and reception over Wi-Fi and Ethernet for the transport of video, audio and metadata across networked production environments.
Monitoring tools include EL Zone false colour, focus peaking, waveform, Log-to-LUT viewing, frame guides, safe areas, anamorphic de-squeeze and HDR-to-Rec.709 conversion. Frequently used functions can be assigned to front-panel buttons. Audio features include dual XLR inputs with 48V phantom power, audio metering, gain control and frame-accurate audio delay.
