Chyron launches redesigned training platform

Chyron has launched a redesigned version of Chyron Academy, its online training platform, introducing a custom-built learning environment with interactive simulations and an updated certification programme for users of its PRIME broadcast graphics platform.

Replacing the company's previous third-party training system, the new platform is aimed at both first time PRIME users and experienced operators looking to develop advanced skills. Chyron said more than 3,700 broadcast professionals registered for training through the previous platform, earning nearly 1,900 certifications. More than 950 active learners and their certification histories have been migrated to the new academy.

The platform launches with five PRIME courses comprising around 150 lessons, demonstrations, simulations and quizzes. A four-level certification path covers Designer Basics, Intermediate, Advanced and Expert levels, with learners progressing at their own pace through hands-on exercises based on real production workflows.

“Chyron Academy was inspired by, and has satisfied, a need we kept hearing from customers,” said Aldo Campisi, vice president of sales at Chyron for Latin America, Caribbean and French Canada. “A customer facing an end-of-life decision on their existing hardware chose Chyron and this tool is what helped their team become experts in our workflow and our solution. That is exactly the value we set out to deliver: practical, hands-on training that gets a team productive and ready to launch on PRIME fast. Long time Chyron customers love it too. It is an effective way to bring their new hires up to speed quickly and ensure that even experienced users are fluent in everything PRIME has to offer.”

Chyron plans to expand the academy with training for its LIVE cloud production platform, as well as PAINT, Click Effects and AXIS. The company said colleges and universities are also exploring the inclusion of PRIME training within broadcast and media production courses.
