The newly renovated Shenzhen Sports Center Stadium has reopened as the city’s first Grade-A professional football venue, featuring a high-performance audio system powered by 66 Powersoft Quattrocanali amplifiers designed to deliver clear, reliable sound to all 45,000 spectators.

Located in Shenzhen’s Futian District, the stadium has undergone a comprehensive refurbishment, bringing its infrastructure and operational capabilities to international standards. Designed primarily for professional football fixtures, the venue demanded an audio system capable of combining speech intelligibility, operational reliability and efficient long-term management.

Powersoft distributor and systems integrator EZPro supplied the main audio equipment while also undertaking feasibility studies, AV system design, technical guidance, commissioning, tuning and operator training. At the heart of the installation are 66 Powersoft Quattrocanali 4804 + Dante amplifiers, providing a total of 264 channels to drive more than 300 loudspeakers throughout the venue, including 252 EAW KF210 line array cabinets covering the spectator seating and field of play. The amplifiers are connected via a dedicated Dante network spanning four amplifier locations, with two equipment rooms supplemented by two additional amplifier racks mounted on the stadium catwalk. A Dante-enabled digital mixing console completes the signal chain, while EZPro's proprietary EZCloud management platform provides centralised monitoring of the audio system alongside other building systems.

One of the project's biggest challenges was the client’s request for a decentralised amplifier layout. By positioning amplifiers closer to the loudspeakers, the design reduces cable losses while maintaining damping factor and overall audio performance. However, the approach also imposed strict limitations on amplifier size and weight. According to the project team, Powersoft's compact 1U Quattrocanali platform proved ideally suited to the application, combining high power density with low weight and reduced heat generation. The efficient design also lowers cooling requirements and operational costs while simplifying installation in the restricted catwalk locations.

Built-in DSP and Powersoft's ArmoníaPlus software also streamlined system commissioning. The software's Chinese-language interface, combined with EAW loudspeaker presets, enabled rapid tuning and simplified operator training. Integrated monitoring functions, including impedance and temperature monitoring, have also been incorporated into EZCloud to provide automatic fault alerts and fast routine system health checks.

Safety and reliability were key priorities throughout the project, with the client setting demanding standards for equipment installation and day-to-day operation. The resulting system ensures clear audio reaches every seat while providing operators with comprehensive monitoring tools to maintain performance throughout major sporting events.

According to the stadium’s technical team, the combination of Powersoft's efficient amplifier platform and close collaboration between the manufacturer and EZPro has resulted in a robust, futureproof installation capable of supporting Shenzhen's growing ambitions as a host city for elite football.
