Ayrton illuminates Chiai Fujikawa’s Tokyo show
Lighting designer Naoki Ito of OverTheClip leveraged 22 Ayrton Rivale Profile moving lights fixtures for Japanese rock singer Chiai Fujikawa's recent concert at Nihonbashi Mitsui Hall in Tokyo. The event attracted around 1,000 fans, with the lighting design forming a key part of the production's visual identity.
For the show, Ito designed a lighting scheme that followed the changing dynamics of Fujikawa's set, from high-energy rock performances to more intimate moments, while complementing the performance's “Just Resonate” production concept.
According to a report from Takayoshi Umeda of PRG K K, Ayrton’s Japanese distributor, the concert opened with tightly focused beams cutting through haze in sync with the opening songs, before the lighting design evolved alongside the performance. As the set progressed, the fixtures were used to transition from sharp beam effects and strobes to saturated colour washes and broader visual looks that reflected the shifts in mood throughout the show.
The Rivale Profile fixtures were also used during the performance's emotional climaxes, with the lighting expanding across the venue to accompany Fujikawa's vocals and create an immersive visual experience for the audience.
Ito said the Rivale Profile was selected for its flexibility across different musical styles, allowing the lighting design to move seamlessly between energetic rock sections and more restrained moments. He also noted that he continues to explore the creative possibilities offered by the fixtures for future productions.
