Custom Void Acoustics fits The Norm Bangkok

The Norm Bangkok has opened with a bespoke multizone audio system from Aura Visual System. The setup combines custom finished Void Acoustics loudspeakers with an Allen & Heath control platform to deliver venue wide coverage while complementing the rooftop destination's Scandinavian inspired interior design.

Located on the 42nd floor of Dusit Central Park overlooking Lumphini Park, the venue has been conceived as a modern social club with four distinct spaces – the Main Area, Egg Bar, Terrace and Whispering Room – each requiring different audio characteristics while maintaining a consistent sound throughout the venue.

Aura Visual System designed the installation around an Allen & Heath AHM-32 audio matrix processor with Dante networking, allowing independent control of indoor and outdoor zones, flexible source routing and simplified operation via two CC-7 touchscreen controllers and custom control stations.

Outside, the terrace system combines two Void Acoustics Air Vantage V2 loudspeakers, two Venu 218 V2 subwoofers and five Cyclone 8 loudspeakers to provide full range coverage while maintaining controlled dispersion in the open-air environment. Indoors, 12 Venu 8 and two Venu 14 loudspeakers are paired with two Venu 115, two Venu 118 and two Venu 208 subwoofers to deliver even coverage and balanced low frequency performance throughout the venue. Rather than using standard finishes, the indoor loudspeakers were manufactured in a bespoke Vintage Antique wood finish with raw metal grilles to integrate with the venue's timber, stone and leather interiors.

The installation was supported by acoustic modelling and system simulation, with Aura Visual System paying particular attention to loudspeaker placement, zone transitions and room acoustics before carrying out final tuning to achieve consistent SPL and frequency response across the venue. The system is powered by seven Void Acoustics Bias series amplifiers and incorporates Netgear network infrastructure and Allen & Heath Dante interfaces to manage audio distribution throughout the venue.

The sound, the atmosphere and the panoramic views over Lumphini Park come together to create something truly memorable.”

According to the Aura Visual System team, the completed installation provides seamless coverage across all four zones while allowing the venue to adapt its soundscape from daytime hospitality to evening DJ performances.
