TiMax expands spatial audio toolkit

TiMax has released version 1.5 of its panLab macOS spatialisation app, introducing faster tools for creating object movement alongside expanded console compatibility and a series of workflow enhancements.

A new Sequence Shape Palette allows users to generate movement from predefined shapes including circles, squares, triangles and 2D or 3D spirals, providing an alternative to manually drawing movement paths. Shapes can be resized, rotated and repositioned within the 3D Panner, while a new bounding-box tool enables complete sequences to be reshaped across one or multiple axes.

Expanded console support now incorporates the Behringer Wing range. As with the existing Yamaha integration, Wing buses can be assigned as either speaker outputs or pannable input sources, extending object-based spatial audio workflows to additional mixing platforms.

Several refinements have also been made to the 3D Panner. The camera now keeps the floor in view automatically while orbiting, selected sequence nodes are highlighted more clearly, and speaker labels remain hidden until required to reduce on-screen clutter.

Elsewhere, sequence editing has been streamlined with direct node deletion and duration editing, while playback timing has been improved for greater accuracy. A new Update Current function allows changes to be written directly back to the active Snapshot, and Snapshot Recall Scope can now be applied across multiple sources simultaneously. The release also includes smoother live sequence playback and resolves a number of software stability issues.
