Adamson supports Hua Hin theatre revival

VIC Hua Hin, a historic theatre and creative learning space founded by Thailand’s National Artist Patravadi Mejudhon (Kru Lek), is preparing to reopen with a new audio system designed by Sonos Libra. The installation uses Adamson point source loudspeakers to provide speech intelligibility and consistent coverage while remaining compact enough to respect the venue’s architecture.

The theatre, part of a wider environment supporting performing arts, education and creative development, previously operated commercially before becoming inactive for several years. Its return will include traditional Thai musical theatre and multimedia productions incorporating LED screens and projection mapping.

The existing audio system no longer provided consistent coverage across the audience area following years of limited use. Sound engineer and project consultant Patryk Tylza was brought in to develop the replacement system, with clear and natural speech reproduction prioritised over maximum output.

The main system comprises three Adamson CS10p loudspeakers configured in an L-C-R arrangement. Two CS119 subwoofers are flown above the stage, keeping the enclosures out of the audience sightline while providing low-frequency reinforcement. The configuration is intended to create a natural sound image across the stage while maintaining coverage throughout the audience area.

An Allen & Heath SQ-5 digital mixing console and DX168 I/O expander provide system control. Sonos Libra donated both units to VIC Hua Hin to support the venue’s future productions and educational activities. Sonos Libra also tuned and commissioned the system following installation, optimising coverage and tonal balance.

They no longer needed to run their microphones as loud as before for the audience to clearly understand their speech. It made the dialogue much clearer and made it easier for the performance to tell its story. I have also been using the SQ5 since it was first introduced and I have always liked it for its sound quality and ease of use.”
