Described as a major update across its plugin catalogue, Waves has announced new V17 plugins. At the centre of the release is a new preset management system that has been implemented across the entire plugin range, with an updated workflow that improves preset browsing, searching and organisation, while adding favourites management to help users locate and recall settings more quickly across music production, broadcast, post-production and live sound applications.
Live sound users benefit from real-time analysers in the Renaissance EQ and eMo Q4 plugins within the eMotion LV1 and SuperRack platforms, alongside extended dynamic control and a new 5Hz Frequency Shift option in Primary Source Expander (PSE) for increased gain-before-feedback performance. Studio updates include a redesigned MondoMod interface, new I/O automation controls for CLA MixDown and AudioSuite support for the WLM Plus Loudness Meter.
Introduced as part of V17, Mix Unlock is a new premium StudioVerse feature that enables vocals, drums, bass and instruments to be separated from finished stereo audio in real time within the DAW. Individual elements can then be processed independently using Waves plugins and StudioVerse preset chains, allowing remixing, rebalancing and creative manipulation without access to the original multitrack sessions. As part of StudioVerse, Mix Unlock benefits from the manufacturer’s growing ecosystem of cloud-connected production tools and preset-sharing capabilities, giving users access to a continuously expanding library of professionally designed processing chains and creative workflows.
Also joining the portfolio is Atlas Reverb, a new flagship algorithmic reverb plugin built around an all-new processing engine. Rather than relying on convolution, Atlas generates reflections in real time and offers a collection of reverb programs inspired by classic DSP hardware. Designed for both studio and live applications, the plugin includes halls, rooms, chambers, plates, springs and more experimental spaces, while its low-latency architecture and efficient CPU performance make it suitable for demanding production environments.
