MTC Jockey Club adopts Zixi for international racing distribution

Mauritius:

Mauritian horse racing is set to expand its international broadcast reach following the deployment of Zixi's software platform by the MTC Jockey Club (MTCJC), marking the company's first direct installation in the Indian Ocean nation. The deployment follows a successful proof-of-concept and will support the international distribution of live horse racing from the historic Champ de Mars racecourse in Port Louis. The platform was selected for its centralised monitoring capabilities, operational visibility, reliability and flexibility to support multiple transport protocols from a single platform.

Although the club has used hardware encoders supporting the Zixi protocol for around a decade, the new deployment introduces Zixi's software platform, including ZEN Master, to provide centralised orchestration and management of live feeds while supporting future international expansion.

“Live horse racing is time-critical and unforgiving,” said Viraj Pabaroo, head of broadcast operations at MTC Jockey Club. “We needed a platform that could give us the confidence that every feed would arrive on time and that, if something went wrong, we would know exactly where to look. Zixi's ZEN Master gave us that visibility from day one. The proof-of-concept removed any doubt, and we are excited to build on this platform as we look to bring Mauritian racing to audiences around the world.”

Founded in 1812, the Mauritius Turf Club is recognised as the oldest horse racing club in the Southern Hemisphere. The club stages weekly race meetings during the racing season, with its broadcasts among the country's most watched sporting events.

“The MTC Jockey Club is one of the great institutions of world sport, and we are proud that they have chosen Zixi to power their live racing workflows,” said Marc Aldrich, Zixi CEO. “This deployment demonstrates exactly what ZEN Master was built for: giving broadcast operations teams complete visibility and control over complex, mission-critical live events.”
