Wisycom and DPA support Pope Leo XIV's visit to Spain

Hundreds of thousands of people attending Pope Leo XIV's recent visit to Spain were supported by a professional audio infrastructure incorporating Wisycom wireless systems and DPA microphones. The solution was supplied by local distributor SeeSound. The week-long visit included liturgical celebrations, public appearances and institutional events, requiring audio systems for both large live audiences and broadcast coverage. During the final stages in Gran Canaria and Tenerife, Hi Vision was responsible for broadcasting the events for local television across the Canary Islands.

To support wireless operations across multiple venues and changing RF environments, the production deployed a Wisycom system based around MCR54 multichannel receivers, MTP60 bodypack transmitters and MTH610 handheld transmitters. An RPU500 full duplex reporter system was also used alongside MTK982 in-ear transmitters and MPR60 receivers for monitoring.

“Events of this scale demand absolute confidence in every part of the signal chain,” said SeeSound’s broadcast division product manager, Lluc Torres. “Whether you're focused on wireless RF performance or speech intelligibility, there simply isn't an opportunity for a second take. The technology must work flawlessly from the first moment to the last.”

For Pope Leo’s addresses, DPA 4098 gooseneck microphones were selected to capture speech, with their RF immunity suited to the dense wireless environment surrounding the broadcast production.

“The DPA 4098 has become a trusted solution whenever speech clarity is a priority,” continued Torres. “Its ability to reproduce the human voice while naturally rejecting unwanted noise allows audiences to remain focused on the message, regardless of the scale of the production.”
