PSR upgrades Meyer listening in Jakarta
Meyer Sound distributor PT Promedia Sejahtera Raya (PSR) has installed two high-end music venues in Jakarta combining fine dining and live performances with real-world facilities for professional audio system demonstrations.
PSR was formed in 2024 by Benny Suherman, co-founder of Cinema XXI which runs 1,395 theatres across Indonesia and the Ballroom at Djakarta Theatre, together with industry stalwart Yosua Yan Heriyanto and XXI Cineplex Group’s David Sabariman, taking on the Meyer Sound distributorship for Indonesia. The company’s latest approach to demonstrations centres on the Music Lounge at Plaza Senayan Mall and the newly opened Music Place at the Fairmont Hotel Senayan.
Located on the fifth level of Plaza Senayan Mall, the XXI Cineplex Group’s Music Lounge hosts cinema premieres and press conferences. On evenings when the red carpet remains in storage, the sophisticated 90-capacity venue offers food, drinks and live musical performances to select guests. While the diners may have their eyes fixed on the main stage, their ears are treated to Meyer Sound’s latest speaker systems.
For a relatively intimate venue, the installed system is substantial. Ceiling-suspended L-R Ultra-X80 loudspeakers are complemented by dual 2100-LFC low-frequency control elements in the centre, while compact MM-4XP enclosures provide side fill reinforcement. Management presets are configured in a Galileo Galaxy 408 processor, while six MJF-208 dual-8-inch and six MJF-210 dual-10-inch wedge speakers function as stage monitors.
The concept has been extended two floors below to Music Place on the third level of the Fairmont Hotel Senayan. Previously known as Motion Blue Jakarta, the venue had built a reputation by combining premium jazz performances with fine dining. Extensive acoustic treatment and a Meyer Sound system comprising UPQ-2P, UPA-1P and UM-1P loudspeakers and 600-HP subwoofers had established it as a serious listening venue. Following an interior redesign, the 120-seat Music Place retains the ambience of its predecessor while providing PSR with a new setting for demonstrations, inviting guests for live music performances. The installation combines L-R Ultra-X80 loudspeakers with L-R Ultra-X40 and dual Ultra-X20 cabinets serving as fills and down fills respectively, while a pair of 2100-LFC subwoofers extends low-frequency response down to 30Hz. Six MJF-208 monitors serve performers on stage.
Front-of-house mixing is conducted on a Yamaha Rivage PM10 console connected to an RPio622 I/O rack. A DiGiCo Quantum 338 console connected to an SD-Rack handles monitoring for stage inputs, Shure Axient Digital PSM IEMs and Meyer MJF-208 monitor outputs. A Shure Axient Digital wireless system, including eight KSM11 handheld vocal mics, completes the package.
Far removed from the conventional world of outdoor car parks and line arrays suspended from scaffold towers, Music Place and the Music Lounge offer a distinctly different environment in which to experience a professional audio system. PSR has set the bar high when it comes to audio demonstrations.
