Sony and Vitec launch global partnership
Sony Electronics and Vitec have announced a collaboration combining the former’s Bravia Professional Displays with the latter’s Avedia IPTV and digital signage platform. The move aims to create a player-less solution for corporate, hospitality, entertainment, healthcare and public environments.
The integration brings the Avedia player software directly to the displays’ system-on-chip (SoC), using the Android-based Bravia platform. This removes the requirement for external media players, with Sony’s deployment tools enabling the software to be installed directly onto compatible displays.
According to the companies, the approach is intended to reduce installation complexity, simplify system management and lower total cost of ownership. The combined solution can be managed through Vitec’s CMS and supports deployments of thousands of displays across different screen sizes, with centralised control of live IPTV channels, digital signage and targeted advertising.
“By combining Sony’s world-class display technology with Vitec’s powerful IPTV and signage platform, we are delivering a game-changing solution across many verticals,” stated Rik Willemse, head of professional display solutions Europe, Sony Europe.
Rich Ventura, VP, professional display solutions America, Sony Electronics, added: “This collaboration allows operators and end users to create dynamic, engaging environments while simplifying installation and reducing operational complexity.”
The companies also highlight redundancy features, centralised content control and support for the latest security standards, with the solution designed for large-scale and mission-critical deployments. The system also supports both parties’ sustainability goals, with Bravia displays incorporating energy-saving technologies and Vitec continuing its GreenPEG initiative.
“By integrating our technologies and expertise, we are committed to providing customers with seamless, future-ready platforms and workflows that address the diverse needs of modern organisations,” commented Eli Garten, senior VP, global IPTV and partner solutions, Vitec.
