ADJ transforms Global Village Dubai for 30th season
Global Village Dubai has enhanced its nighttime presence with an extensive façade lighting installation featuring 555 ADJ Encore LP5 IP LED fixtures, deployed across more than 1,000m of pavilion façades for the attraction’s 30th season.
Located alongside Cityland Mall, Global Village brings together pavilions representing countries and regions from around the world, alongside dining, shopping, rides, concerts and regular light, laser and fireworks displays. For the 2025/26 season, the lighting project focused initially on eight pavilions.
The project was supplied by ADJ’s Middle Eastern distributor, GSL Professional, with design, installation and project management handled by Pure Minds for Lighting under project manager Armin Nefasati. The 555 Encore LP5 IP fixtures were individually addressed, enabling independent DMX control of each section and allowing individual pavilion colour schemes to be combined with site-wide effects for special events and promotions.
Nefasati said the installation uses a hybrid approach, combining conventional warm-white fixtures controlled via ADJ Uni PK II dimmer/switch packs with the colour-mixing Encore fixtures. The LP5 IP’s RGBL configuration, including a dedicated lime LED, was particularly important for matching the colour temperature of the conventional lighting.
Fixture size and weight were also key considerations, with the pavilion façades constructed largely from foam and reaching heights of up to 45m. “We wanted lights that would be unobtrusive but effective and the ADJ Encore LP5 IP was perfect,” explained Nefasati, noting that wind loading also restricted the weight of fixtures that could be installed.
The system incorporates 38 Aria X2 Transceiver units for wireless DMX connectivity, while RDM provides remote fixture management across the large-scale installation. The lighting operates daily from 4pm–2am throughout the season, placing demands on reliability in Dubai’s challenging climate.
“The clients have been very happy with the Encore LP5 IPs,” concluded Nefasati. “As the season draws to a close, I can also confirm they have proved very reliable.”
Following the initial phase, plans are being discussed to expand the system from eight pavilions to as many as 23 across the Global Village site.
