AZAM TV upgrades OB audio infrastructure with Lawo
A connected IP audio environment has been introduced aboard one of AZAM TV's outside broadcast vehicles, with the East African broadcaster upgrading the truck around Lawo's HOME management platform and mc² production technology.
Implemented by German systems integrator Broadcast Solutions, the upgrade combines a 32-fader Lawo mc²36 MkII production console with A__stage80 and A__stage48 stageboxes, an A__digital64 Audio-over-IP gateway and HOME-enabled control and management.
At the centre of the installation, HOME provides management of the truck's IP infrastructure, automatically discovering and managing the Lawo equipment alongside third-party devices. The platform supports interoperability across SMPTE ST 2110, AES67 and RAVENNA networks.
Audio signals from microphones, commentary units and other sources enter the network through the A__stage80 and A__stage48 stageboxes, where they are converted into IP streams and made available across the production environment. The approach is intended to reduce cabling requirements while providing greater flexibility during setup and teardown for different live productions.
The mc²36 MkII provides operators with access to the networked resources and acts as the main production console within the vehicle. Existing AES3-based equipment is integrated into the IP infrastructure through the A__digital64 gateway, allowing AZAM TV to retain compatibility with existing technology while providing scope for future expansion.
