Combining line-cardioid and figure-of-eight elements within a single microphone capsule, Audio-Technica’s BP350ST provides mid-side stereo capture in two versions tailored to different production environments. The microphone uses switch-selectable internal matrixing to provide either left-right stereo output with wide or narrow imaging, or discrete mid-side signals for adjustment during postproduction. The configuration is said to maintain depth when stereo channels are combined to mono while helping to avoid time-alignment and comb-filtering issues associated with some stereo microphone setups.

The BP350ST-UL incorporates a 16cm interference tube designed to reject off-axis noise when capturing more distant sources and can be mounted to video cameras or support rigs. Its AT8547 power module can be fitted to a camera microphone mount or secured using third-party mounting options.

The BP350ST-UB uses the same compact body format as the manufacturer’s ATM350a instrument mic and includes both a low-profile boundary housing and a 5-inch gooseneck with clip-on mount. The magnetised boundary base plate can be attached to metal surfaces or screw-mounted, while compatibility with ATM350a mounting systems provides further positioning options.

Both versions use permanently attached cables terminating in TA5F connectors for connection to the power module and are supplied with a 36cm TA5F-to-dual-XLR3-M stereo cable for connection to phantom-powered microphone preamps.
