L-Acoustics extends certified ecosystem to voice alarm applications
L-Acoustics has secured EN 54 certification for a growing portfolio of loudspeakers, amplified controllers and network products, enabling its systems to be specified for both sound reinforcement and voice alarm applications.
The certification covers EN 54-24 for loudspeakers used in voice alarm systems and EN 54-16 for voice alarm control and indicating equipment. According to L-Acoustics, the move allows consultants and integrators to design a single audio ecosystem for applications where high-performance sound reinforcement and compliant emergency communication are both required.
The approach is particularly relevant to sports venues, where entertainment and voice alarm systems have traditionally been specified and maintained separately. L-Acoustics said its certified ecosystem can combine everyday programme audio with the monitoring, reliability and fault reporting requirements associated with voice alarm systems.
The certified loudspeaker portfolio includes the Kara IIi line source enclosure, alongside Ai Series constant-curvature enclosures in Wide and Focus variants and Xi Series coaxial models. The range is intended to cover applications from large arenas and halls through to auditoria, lecture theatres, sports halls, meeting rooms and hospitality areas.
EN 54-16 certification covers the LA7.16i, LA1.16i, LA4X and LA2Xi amplified controllers, as well as the LC16D network audio converter and LS10 Milan-AVB switch when integrated into the PAVA Facilities VACIE rack. This allows amplification, processing, monitoring and fault reporting to remain within the same platform.
According to the manufacturer, the unified approach can also be applied to convention centres, theatres, university campuses and corporate facilities, where programme audio and statutory evacuation requirements coexist.
“Our customers were already asking us to cover both jobs, because they could hear the difference between the two systems in their buildings,” said Germain Simon, director of product management, loudspeakers at L-Acoustics. “EN 54 certification means they no longer have to choose. The system that fills a stadium on a Saturday afternoon is the system that will speak clearly to that same crowd if it ever needs to be emptied.”
