EVS and Matrox Video announce new partnership
EVS and Matrox Video have announced a collaboration aimed at helping broadcasters build more flexible, software-defined production environments. The partnership combines EVS’s orchestration and workflow management with Matrox Video’s Origin media processing framework and aligns with the European Broadcasting Union’s (EBU) Dynamic Media Facility (DMF).
The approach is intended to allow production resources to be deployed, configured and scaled according to operational requirements, rather than being permanently assigned to individual workflows or dedicated hardware.
Matrox Origin provides a software-defined processing foundation designed to run broadcast workloads on standard compute infrastructure, with support for open approaches including the EBU’s Media eXchange Layer (MXL) and IPMX. As an OEM building on Origin, EVS can focus on orchestration, automation and operational functions.
EVS’s production resource manager (PRM), part of its flexible control room offering, enables processing resources to be dynamically deployed and reconfigured for individual productions. Tactiq provides a workflow-oriented operator interface, while Cerebrum provides a unified control layer across SDI, IP, on-premises and cloud environments.
“Broadcasters are increasingly looking for ways to make their production infrastructure more flexible and responsive to changing operational requirements,” said Dieter Backx, VP of control and orchestration at EVS. “Our relationship with Matrox Video brings together complementary expertise in orchestration and software-defined media transport and processing, helping us advance the DMF vision and explore new possibilities for more agile production environments.”
For Matrox Video, the collaboration is intended to support more open, interoperable production architectures. “At Matrox Video, we believe broadcasters should have the freedom to build best of breed media systems without being locked into proprietary technology choices,” commented Alberto Cieri, senior VP of sales and marketing at Matrox Video. “Matrox Origin's software-defined media framework enables broadcasters to realise the DMF vision today and together with EVS we're making it easier to deploy the flexible, resource-driven production environments the industry has been working toward.”
