HIVE partners DWR Distribution in South Africa

Giving the local market access to its complete portfolio of scalable media playback and control solutions, HIVE Media Control has partnered with DWR Distribution in South Africa. DWR will initially hold local stock of selected HIVE Beeblade media engines and modular enclosures, while providing access to the wider range for projects requiring different levels of performance and scale. The distributor will also provide specification, deployment, training and after-sales support from its operations in Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban.

“DWR has an outstanding reputation in South Africa, not just for the technology it supplies but for the expertise and support that sits behind it,” said Rory Jervis, chief revenue officer at HIVE Media Control. “They understand the types of ambitious visual projects HIVE was designed for and have the technical capability to support customers from initial specification through to deployment and ongoing service.”

HIVE's Beeblade media players are built on the Intel SDM platform and can be installed directly into compatible displays and projectors, removing the requirement for a separate media server. For standalone and rack-mounted applications, the players can instead be installed in HIVE's compact enclosures. Applications include projection mapping, immersive experiences, LED displays, live events and interactive installations.

The distribution agreement follows discussions between HIVE and DWR at ISE 2026, where the South African company was introduced to the latest HIVE platform and its expanding software capabilities. “HIVE is an exciting addition to the DWR portfolio and gives us a powerful, scalable and cost-effective media playback solution for our customers,” commented DWR Distribution managing director Duncan Riley. “We see strong opportunities across the markets we serve, particularly where customers need sophisticated media playback without the complexity and cost traditionally associated with high-end media servers.”
