Encore completes 36m hotel LED screen in Melbourne
Encore has completed the installation of a 36m-wide LED canvas at Pullman & Mercure Melbourne Albert Park, creating what it says is Australia’s widest permanently installed hotel LED screen.
The installation comprises six configurable Absen NT Series LED screens with a combined 126m2 footprint. A custom-designed 270° tracking system forms part of the installation, with several weeks of engineering work required to overcome the building’s limited structural capacity. The infrastructure also allows the LED display to expand in the future.
LED has been installed throughout the ballroom as well as the Lake, State and Park View meeting spaces, supporting conferences, awards programmes, exhibitions and immersive brand experiences.
The project forms part of a wider technology transformation led by Encore across the Melbourne venue, extending into its ballroom, meeting spaces and public areas. The venue overlooks Albert Park Lake and provides more than 2,600m2 of event space across more than 30 rooms, with capacity for up to 1,600 delegates.
The wider infrastructure upgrades include Netgear Pro AV Line as the network backbone, Q-SYS Matrix solutions and NEXO PA. Lighting is controlled by MA Lighting, running Chauvet fixtures.
The LED installation also provides a platform for Encore’s design studio to develop immersive storytelling, cinematic content and experience-led production for events.
Jack Illeperuma, regional general manager, Encore VIC, SA and WA, described the project as a significant development for hotel-based events: “This is more than a technology upgrade. It is a bold reimagining of what a hotel event destination can be.Together with Pullman & Mercure Melbourne Albert Park, we are creating one of the most advanced event environments in Australia and setting a new benchmark for the Asia Pacific region.
“The scale of this installation gives our Design Studio an innovative, flexible canvas to create immersive experiences, powerful brand stories and memorable audience moments. This is where technology and creativity come together to deliver real impact.”
Shreyas Matkari, hotel manager at Pullman & Mercure Melbourne Albert Park, commented: “Client expectations have changed significantly in recent years. Event organisers are looking for greater visual impact, flexibility and opportunities to create memorable delegate experiences. This investment allows us to offer capabilities rarely found within a hotel environment while preserving the convenience, service and versatility that have made Pullman & Mercure Melbourne Albert Park one of Melbourne's leading conference and events destinations. Together with Encore, we're creating an environment that gives our clients more possibilities than ever before.”
