Bringing more of the broadcast chain under software-defined control, Lawo has expanded its HOME ecosystem with new media-sharing and graphics applications while adding the Edge One stagebox and updates across its mc² and Power Core platforms.

The new Stream Share App is designed to simplify media exchange between distributed facilities, OB trucks, cloud environments and third-party systems. Built on NMOS standards, each instance can expose up to 128 HD/3G/UHD video streams, 512 audio streams and 128 metadata streams bidirectionally as a single NMOS device. Control data is handled separately from the essence streams, which travel over dedicated network tielines, allowing resources to be shared without handing control of the originating system to the receiving environment.

Graphics capabilities have also been extended with the HOME Logo Inserter and Key and Fill Extractor. Logo Inserter can create up to 16 independently branded outputs from a single video source using HTML-based graphics, targeting regional feeds, sponsorship and platform-specific delivery. Key and Fill Extractor converts HTML5 graphics into separate SMPTE ST 2110-20 key and fill streams for connection to Lawo or third-party downstream keyers and production switchers. It can operate independently or within the HOME Apps DSK.

At the hardware edge, the new Edge One combines bidirectional SDI, HDMI, MADI, USB-C audio, GPIO, synchronisation and interchangeable audio I/O modules in a compact stagebox. Native SMPTE ST 2110 connectivity provides up to 25Gbps network bandwidth, while Lawo FLEX allows audio, video or combined audio + video configurations to be specified. JPEG XS encoding and decoding, frame synchronisation, commentary features, MADI I/O and mc²-grade DSP can be licensed as required.

Lawo's mc² 12.4 software release 12.4 adds Real-Time Analyzer support, touchscreen zoom module pop-ups and control of compatible third-party equipment through HOME. External Ember+ controllers can recall channel presets, while sample-based delay adjustment provides finer timing control. A preview of Release 12.6 introduces dynamic assignment of physical console connections through HOME, browser-based mxGUI operation and further AUX bus and VCA display enhancements.

Power Core 10.0 meanwhile introduces HOME Power Core as a software alternative to the physical platform, alongside support for Lawo OnAir Designer. A new six-band equaliser provides four fully parametric bands and two additional filter bands, with the processing available in both Power Core and the HOME Power Core DSP App.
