Waves expands Tract System Calibration

Bringing three plugins together, Waves Audio has expanded its Tract System Calibration solution and transformed it into a complete toolkit for PA measurement, system calibration and SPL monitoring. The suite includes the original Tract System Calibration plugin together with the Tract Measure and SPL Meter plugins.

Central to the expanded workflow and eliminating the need for separate measurement software, Tract Measure measures a PA system directly within Waves eMotion LV1 consoles or SuperRack plugin racks. Using a microphone, it captures a system’s frequency response and delay, and sends the results directly to the Tract System Calibration to generate corrective EQ and system time-alignment settings.

Providing a more representative picture of system performance throughout a venue, measurements can be captured from multiple microphone positions and combined into a single correction curve. Current, Last and Delta readouts provide precise timing offsets that can be used when aligning mains, front fills and delay towers. Tract System Calibration supports measurements from Smaart, allowing engineers to select either Tract Measure or Smaart for bringing measurement data into the Tract correction workflow.

The addition of SPL Meter extends the Tract workflow beyond system setup and into the performance itself. Once the PA is calibrated, engineers can monitor SPL levels directly from their Waves live host without leaving their mixing environment. SPL Meter displays current and maximum SPL and provides both A- and C-weighted measurements, while SPL thresholds can be established and users can receive warnings when levels exceed predetermined limits. Measurements can also be logged throughout a performance and exported as CSV files, providing documentation for venue requirements as well as useful data for post-show review.

With the development of Tracks Live 2.0, next-generation multitrack recording for live sound is available. Reimagined live recording software delivers up to 128 channels of multitrack capture, virtual soundcheck, essential editing and DAW export, with deep integration within a single live-focused workflow. Reportedly designed to work with virtually any live sound platform, Tracks Live 2.0 can be used with Waves eMotion LV1 systems or non-Waves Core Audio or ASIO I/O configurations. Other features include one-click synchronisation with eMotion LV1, automatic LV1 scene markers, essential editing tools, bounce capabilities for finished mixes and DAW project session export for continued production.
