Vizrt brings 3D analysis to Richmond AFL
Richmond AFL has adopted Vizrt’s Viz Libero Teams to support match analysis and digital content production, giving the Australian Football League club a workflow for turning game footage into 3D tactical breakdowns and fan-facing content.
The platform provides more than 70 analysis tools, including measurements, defensive lines, zones and 3D camera flights. Richmond’s coaching and analysis teams can use the system on a laptop, on-premises or in the cloud to examine match footage and create clips for digital channels. In addition, the workflow allows the club to produce analysis content for its online audience, combining coaching applications with short-form video and match highlights for social media.
“This technology gives our coaches and analysts a powerful new way to break down match footage and translate it into clear, actionable insights for our players,” commented Troy Johnson, head of technology, Richmond AFL. “Just as importantly, it opens up new possibilities for how we connect with our members and fans, letting us bring them closer to the tactical side of the game in ways we haven't been able to before. It's a great fit for a club that's always looking for an edge, both on the field and in how we engage our community.”
Andrew O’Neil, SVP, sports strategy and growth at Vizrt, said: “For clubs and leagues around the world, Viz Libero Teams offers clarity and flexibility, so coaches and players dynamically visualise plays and improve performance. A warm welcome to Richmond AFL – with the Tigers’ hundreds of thousands of followers around the world, the team will certainly turn its fans into expert analysts.”
Vizrt also pointed to UEFA’s use of Viz Libero for digital content, which it says resulted in a 78% increase in social media engagement.
