SSL unveils Music Mixing – Level 1 certification

The SSL Music Mixing – Level 1 certification has become the latest addition to the growing SSL Certified Training Partner Program. Developed by the manufacturer’s education team in collaboration with industry professionals and academic partners, the SSL Music Mixing – Level 1 certification has been designed to provide students with a structured pathway to develop practical mixing.

The course bridges the gap between education and industry by introducing students to core music mixing concepts, professional workflows, critical listening techniques, session organisation, processing, balance, dynamics, effects and mix evaluation. The launch follows the completion of SSL’s inaugural Train-the-Trainer programme, where educators from leading institutions and organisations around the world became the first group of SSL Certified Instructors qualified to deliver the course.

The SSL Music Mixing – Level 1 certification has been authored by Alex Miller, a producer, engineer, educator and long-standing advocate for audio excellence. Drawing on decades of professional studio experience and educational leadership, Miller developed the curriculum to provide learners with a practical, industry-relevant foundation in music mixing that reflects the workflows, techniques and standards used by today’s audio professionals. As lead trainer for the inaugural Train-the-Trainer programme, he worked closely with SSL’s education team and industry partners to ensure the course balances technical knowledge, creative decision-making and hands-on application. The result is described as a certification programme that equips students with skills that can be immediately applied in both educational and professional environments.
