3NIL invests in CODA Audio
Japanese audio specialist, 3NIL Sound Design, has invested in CODA audio systems in an attempt to improve its efficiency and flexibility in practical and logistical terms. 3NIL’s founder and president, Masatoshi Iitika, recently reviewed the company’s inventory and believed that its previous system did not meet the demands that it required.
Iitika has experience as an audio engineer and has worked in live and studio and had encountered CODA audio systems on different occasions. He was impressed by their high output, compact size and detail.
“Our goal was to own our own line array loudspeakers that were compact, powerful and would allow us to better control the amount of equipment needed according to the scale of each job. Having initially auditioned CiRAY, we moved our focus to CODA’s ultra-compact N-RAY which appeared to best match our requirements,” Iitika said.
N-RAY is a compact, 3-way line array, which can be flown or ground-stacked, and can be used in theatres, performing arts centres and corporate events. 3NIL had used demo units to conduct live tests with a band in its warehouse and the decision to invest in N-RAY was easy, according to Iitika.
“We were immediately convinced that the units had the versatility to handle multiple inputs with ease. The system was extremely clear, with high resolution and rich detail without sounding ‘thin’ in any way, and even when it was turned up really high, there was no distortion. The low-frequency control of the SCN-F is excellent, and it’s amazing that the unit produces so much sound with just a single 15-inch loudspeaker. The combination of the system’s compactness and portability with its high output and superior sound quality were the deciding factors behind our adoption of N-RAY,” said Iitika.
3NIL has been using the new system for a number of months and its real-world performance has confirmed to the company that N-RAY was the right choice.
