DM Music turns to Audio-Technica for historic HOW projects
When a church requires a simple-to-use, discreet and flexible solution for clergy and other users, Hertfordshire-based AV installer DM Music will choose Audio-Technica’s System 20 PRO wireless. The 2.4GHz system offers plug-and-play functionality, a range of microphone/transmitter options and is scalable to 20 channels, making it ideal for HOW applications.
“We’ve installed System 20 PRO wireless in a variety of church situations over the last couple of years and there are several aspects of the system that make it well-suited for our clients,” said Alex Jones, DM Music project manager. “The ability to remotely locate antennas away from receiver units via standard Ethernet cable really helps to ensure good coverage without complicated antenna distribution systems and the fact that the range includes boundary microphones – which we’ll sometimes use at the altar – is really useful. The drop-in charging stations are extremely convenient too, as is the licence-free nature of System 20 PRO as a 2.4GHz solution.”
With four channels of System 20 PRO wireless fitting into a single 19-inch rack space, Jones believes the solution packs a great deal into minimal space. “For many churches, four channels are often enough radio mics for their clergy. The fact we can run these on a single System 20 PRO receiver with no additional antenna equipment keeps costs down and makes the installation discreet and unobtrusive.
“In general, we find that wireless, rather than wired, systems are a good choice in many situations. The lack of cabling, minimal setup time, the fact that we can place boundary mics on altars rather than miking up clergy, makes them a great option. And the System 20 PRO’s combination of excellent coverage, discreet, flexible installation and balance of cost and quality is very appealing for many church projects.”
Among DM Music’s recent such projects is St Margaret’s Church in Halstead, Kent. The picturesque, flint-walled church dates back to 1855 and, typical of this kind of historic house of worship, required an unobtrusive, simple-to-use audio solution. “The Audio-Technica wireless system has made a real difference for us,” said Reverend Tim Edwards, rector of the United Benefice of Knockholt with Halstead. “It has been straightforward and intuitive to use and has helped us provide clear, reliable sound for services and events at the church.”
