Robert Juliat profiles upgrade South Korean theatre
Eumseong Culture and Art Center in Chungcheongbuk-do has installed 28 Robert Juliat Bizet profile spots as part of a wider lighting upgrade. Located in Chungcheongbuk-do, the 600-seat theatre hosts plays, operas, ballets and musicals.
The installation was carried out by C&C Lightway, Robert Juliat’s exclusive distributor in South Korea, as the venue transitioned its lighting inventory from conventional tungsten fixtures to LED. The project features the brand’s Bizet 671SX 500W LED Variable White 11/26° luminaires and marks Eumseong Culture and Art Center’s first investment in Robert Juliat fixtures.
Hyung-jun Choi, sales director at C&C Lightway, introduced and specified the fixtures which have been permanently installed as the core of the venue’s main front-of-house lighting rig.
“We were looking for fixtures with high output, adjustable white colour temperature, high CRI for natural skin tone rendering and precise shutter framing,” explained Hyunjin Yoon, lighting manager at Eumseong Culture and Art Center. “The Bizet 671SX VW is ideal because its variable white source allows us to seamlessly match lighting tones for various performances from warm theatrical scenes to crisp, daylight-balanced classical stage-without sacrificing output.”
Since installation, the profiles have been used for theatrical plays, classical orchestral concerts, traditional Korean music and local cultural festivals. “The most essential features are Bizet’s high output combined with its shuttering capabilities,” noted Yoon. “These allow seamless adaptation from warm theatrical scenes to crisp classical stages without losing intensity or colour fidelity.”
Yoon added that lighting designers have reported benefits when designing and cueing shows, citing the fixtures’ output and ability to maintain colour quality when adjusting the Variable White spectrum to suit different stage atmospheres.
The venue’s technical team has also reported positive feedback on daily operation and maintenance. According to the theatre, the LED source reduces the need for lamp replacements, colour filter replacements and recalibration associated with conventional lamp-based fixtures.
