Media Links supports All-Asia Games broadcast
Media Links supplied IP media transport systems for live broadcast contribution at the All-Asia Games 2026, which took place in Japan from September to October. The project marked the brand’s first involvement in the event, drawing on its experience supporting live video transport for international sporting events.
The manufacturer’s regional partner, New Share Report, proposed the solution in cooperation with SinoTech, the systems integrator responsible for supporting the deployment.
The deployment used MDP3020 IP media gateways at competition venues and Xscend 2RU Media over IP systems at the broadcasting centre. JPEG-XS-encoded live video feeds were transported from the venues to the central facility, where Xscend received and aggregated the feeds for distribution to broadcasters and media rights holders across Asia.
The solution was designed to support the event’s distributed, multivenue requirements, with remotely configurable systems allowing adjustments as operational needs changed. JPEG-XS compression reduced bandwidth requirements while maintaining visually lossless image quality and low latency.
“Major sporting events leave very little room for uncertainty. With dozens of venues feeding live content into a central broadcast operation, the transport layer has to be dependable while adapting quickly as requirements change,” said Toshiyuki Naka, senior vice president of global sales at Media Links. “That is where our experience comes into play. It is an approach to reliable IP transport that we have refined through years of supporting some of the world’s largest live sporting events.”
