RCF arrays strike a chord with BSG
Brisbane Sound Group (BSG) is using RCF NXL 44-A MK2 active column arrays across its event rental operations, supporting productions ranging from community gatherings and corporate events to festivals and concerts.
The Brisbane-based company, which is celebrating 40 years of operation this year, provides sound, vision and lighting equipment for hire, alongside sales, service and installation. Its hire division serves clients across Brisbane, South East Queensland and beyond.
The NXL 44-A MK2 is an active 2-way array featuring a 2,100W Class-D amplifier, three 10-inch neodymium woofers and a 3-inch titanium/neodymium compression driver. The system can be deployed as a standalone unit, flown or coupled with a second NXL 44-A MK2 to extend vertical coverage. RCF’s FiRPHASE processing optimises phase response, while Bass Motion Control manages low-frequency transducer behaviour without conventional high-pass filtering.
According to the BSG Hire department team, since adding the RCF NXL 44-A speakers to their inventory, they’ve quickly become a favourite among both dry-hire customers and staff. The boxes have been deployed across a wide range of events, including community gatherings, small festivals, church youth camps and pub rock gigs. They’ve also featured as stage-side fills on major festival stages such as Big Skies Festival and Sounds of Rock.
The arrays also feature IP-rated powerCON TRUE1 TOP power input and output connections. For applications requiring additional low-frequency extension, they can be paired with subwoofers for medium-sized concerts and DJ systems.
The Hire department team noted that the NXL 44-A deliver powerful, clear audio with excellent coverage and throw. They also cited the units’ ease of setup and weather-resistant connections as advantages, providing a versatile solution for situations requiring more punch than a standard 12-inch top box.
